ASSAIL Ultralight Boots from Blauer

Blauer has been setting uniform standards since 1936.  With the introduction of the Assail Ultralight Boots, Blauer has upped the game with fit, comfort, and thinking outside of the box.

Features

The ASSAIL boot has an updated BOA Fit System closure (more about that later.)  It also has an abrasion resistant TPU mudguard, a redesigned outsole, and built-in MOLLE on both sides of the ankles for holding an IFAK, a knife, a holster, or whatever else you deem yourself to need with a MOLLE attachment point.  I plan to start carrying my tourniquet on my ASSAIL boot.

The ASSAIL is a full-grain leather upper with woven breathable textile materials that incorporate the TPU abrasion guards where you would typically destroy your boots first.

Comfortable Right Out of The Box

The ASSAIL boot introduces itself to you as being comfortable, lightweight, and great ankle support.  You don’t need to force yourself to wear them and have blisters for a week or more.  They are comfortable right out of the box.

No More Stank

When you crack the hood and look inside, you’ll find that the boots smell good and should stay that way for a while.  Blauer has incorporated a moisture wicking lining and a breathable upper for high breathability.  Odor control doesn’t just stop there though, they have incorporated some technology that stops growth of odor causing bacteria.  Your spouse, or maybe your momma (we won’t judge), will appreciate the effort made to keeping these boots smelling right.

I typically don’t like tall boots for patrol use but have found that these 8” tall boots are comfortable despite their size.  They only weight 1.25 pounds and feel like a sneaker that has great ankle support.

Gription, (grip & traction)

You can conquer any terrain with the Assail boot on.  These boots feature a new all-terrain lugged outsole that grips exceptionally well on all types of surfaces and conditions.

Another feature of these boots that I’ve enjoyed is the padded and ribbed heel.  It gives you more cushion while walking which shields your Achilles tendon and similar padding is used to protect your lower shins.  These two features combined provide added support to maintain stability and I found them to make walking on rocks on the gun range more comfortable during a long day.

They’ve also designed these boots to have a radiused heel that makes sitting in a patrol car and driving more comfortable and special traction points in the toe for when you’re climbing up or down a ladder.

BOA Fit System, No More Laces

The big winner for this boot, like the other pair that I reviewed and loved, is the BOA Fit System that eliminates shoelaces. I love that when moving through brush or other obstacles, my shoelaces don’t become undone and that I don’t have to double knot a lace to make that happen!  No more knots at the end of a long day and struggling to get them undone to just relax.

The BOA Fit System eliminates those pinch points that you get with traditional laced up boots.  The BOA Fit System also don’t loosen up as a long day grinds on.

Instead of laces, the BOA Fit System utilizes a 49-strand braided stainless steel cable that won’t rust or stretch and is guaranteed for the life of the boot (like you would find on snowboarders’ boots).  The cable is controlled by nylon guides and a mechanical dial that you spin clockwise to tighten (with an audible click as it ratchets) and is loosed by simply pulling it up.  The BOA Fit System expedites donning and doffing your boots!

The Blauer ASSAIL boot comes with a 120 Day Warranty from Blauer and the MSRP is $174.99.  Buy it now and use code, “WILL10” t0 get a 10% discount on your purchase!  Here’s the link: https://www.blauer.com/assail-boot-fw048.html
