Just remember that the Build a Grip option will have a 2 to 3 week lead time for shipping due to the special order process. The grips I ordered arrived in a timely manner and are fantastic looking. The finish is exceptional and the fit on my 1911 is perfect.
The aluminum feels good in the hand and the normal checkering depth is just right for a good feel on the grips. Even at the range the grips were not slippery but provided a precise and tight feel. I ordered the grips with the safety option of ambidextrous with tang as the majority of my Compact 1911’s are configured that way although this one is not but if I want to change to another 1911 they will fit.
Now if you just want a standard grip there are plenty to choose from. Everything from the 1911, CZ75, Desert Eagle, Beretta, Para double stack, Coonan 357 to the AR15 just to name a few in smooth or checkered. I normally use wood or G10 grips on my 1911’s but these new grips from ALUMAGRIPS very well may just take over.
