This IS the Way, the Version 4 Mounting Plate from C&H Precision Weapons

This IS the way. #Boomsquad

C & H Precision Weapons has offered a red dot mounting plate solution for some time now (Read more about that HERE if you’re interested) and it is a phenomenal solution to the severely lacking MOS plates that come with your stock pistol.

So, with that being said, why do we need a version 4?  Well, because C&H Precision Weapons is an innovative American business that isn’t ready to rest on what they did great yesterday!

What’s the version 4 (V4) & why do you need it?

Version 4 of the C&H Precision mounting plate is the item you wish you thought of and had the ability to implement, it’s one of those, “why didn’t I think of that?” items.  A standard mounting plate from C&H Precision focuses on mounting hardware.  They fix the gaps, they fix the thread engagement, they fix the aesthetics and they make it much more robust.

The new mounting plate adds a couple of huge bonuses to the existing line with the most obvious being optic and lens protection on the V4-Defender.

The big deal with the V4 is the patent pending “Defender Window.”  The V4 Defender series of plates is made of a proprietary impact resistant polymer and has a protective window frame in front of your red dot sight!

Aside from protecting the optic from impact from the top, side, and front it creates a stand-off, so your booger hooks don’t leave smudges all over the glass when you manipulate the slide using your RDS. This thing works.

C&H Precision has added replaceable stainless steel “T-Nuts” and stainless steel Torx® head screws which are used to mount the RDS (Red Dot Sight) system to the V4 plate.  Being able to replace the screws and the T-Nuts is a very smart move as lots of Neanderthals (including myself) have a tendency to over tighten and strip things out.  Now when we screw things up, we just replace the T-Nut and the screws, and the plate is good as new.

Slow Down!

I can already hear some of you whining in your head reading what I just wrote about the use of polymer for the plate.  Set aside your emotions about it not being steel etc. and consider what your Glock frame is made of!  Test this thing out for yourself before you say the engineers and people running these things hard don’t know what they’re talking about.

I’m very impressed with the V4-Defender that I’ve been running.  Assembly was precise and looks great.  The durability so far has been phenomenal.  I’ve been racking the slide repeatedly off every surface I can find, and it is holding up perfectly.

No, I haven’t dropped it from 10 feet up a ladder onto cement 20 times to let you know how it will hold up under those conditions and I haven’t pounded a nail in with it.  I don’t use my guns or optics in those ways, and I don’t have spare optics coming to me for free to replace the broken pieces.

Will it Fit Your Holster?

I have no idea if it will fit your holster!  Have you any idea how many different holsters there are out on the market? The V4-Defender fit perfectly in my RDS Safariland duty holster without any modifications.  It fit perfectly in my T.REX ARMS Ragnarok holster.  Beyond that, I have no idea if your holster will still work!  The window frame adds a very minimal amount of thickness towards the muzzle of your pistol.

Great write-up. I need to order a plate ASAP for a 507 v2 on my MOS. Do you recommend the v4 Recce or the v3? What matters most to me is a low mounting height.
