I teach law enforcement firearms instructor across the United States and I have been using BlackbeardX for several years now. How do smart analytics work?
SCORE – Each shot is scored depending on how much you moved away from your sighted position during the trigger pull. The perfect score is 100 (basically impossible unless locked in a vise).
DIRECTION – For each shot, BlackbeardX detects the direction of the barrel movement during the trigger pull. If you tend to shoot left, left sector will light up on the wheel. After a few shots, the training device shows the pattern of your movement.
SUGGESTION – Analyzing an individual shot or the group of shots, BlackbeardX provides you with a suggestion that could improve your shooting mechanics. Read the coaching tips to know how to focus your efforts in the next round of shooting.
Set-up is easy:
Start with an empty rifle.
Check the chamber both visually and physically that it is empty.
Break open your AR at the rear take-down pin and remove the bolt carrier group and charging handle. Slide the Blackbeard device in and close your AR, putting your take-down pin back in place. Insert the supplied battery source/magazine and you are in business.
Mantis measures the firearm movement throughout the shot process and provides shooters with real-time feedback and coaching on their shooting mechanics. It helps to improve accuracy and precision. In fact, it is beneficial for shooters at all levels from beginner to competitive shooters.
BlackbeardX does not rely on the physical target location to give feedback, it tracks the motion of the gun and evaluates how stable the aim is during shooting. The system focuses on the firearm’s movement rather than the actual position of the target and shot placement. You can use BlackbeardX with Laser Academy to engage a specific target.
