Duty Holster for RDS? Safariland’s 6360 Does It ALL
Safariland’s 6360RDS holster is specifically designed for firearms with red dot sights. As technology advances, handguns, red dot sights and lights have all become more capable. These developments are useless without a strong duty holster which provides retention and a quick draw. Available in variants to fit 233 models of handguns, the 6360 also accommodates the newest lights and RDS.
The 6360 holster features both the Automatic Locking System (ALS®) and Self Locking System (SLS). It locks the weapon in all directions upon holstering. The weapon can be drawn straight out of the holster with no twisting required, unlocked by the thumb.
A protective hood covers your RDS to keep out rain, snow or the occasional spilled milkshake. No scratches or dirt will mess up you high dollar optics.
If you have never used the ALS/SLS combination, it looks complicated, but it is not. It is a mature sophisticated design which leverages ergonomics to provide a one response release of retention. One sweep of the thumb moves the bail and pushes off the ALS lever releasing the gun. The presentation is smooth and fast. Re-holstering locks the gun into the ALS automatically and you can activate the SLS when you have time for full retention and protection.
The 6360 ALS®/SLS duty holster is sturdy, lightweight, and provides an extra measure of security while on patrol. The ALS® (Automatic Locking System) builds on the foundation of the SLS (Self Locking System) to offer Level III Retention™. In addition to the SLS, Safariland’s patented ALS locks the firearm into place immediately upon holstering, while the rotating hood and tension device ensure added security. The 6360 holster can be easily upgraded to Level IV Retention® using the optional Sentry attachment.
The 6360 ALS®/SLS Mid-ride is constructed of durable SafariLaminate™ and is lined with suede to protect the gun’s sights and finish. For a snug and comfortable fit, the mid-ride belt loop allows the holster to ride close to the body.
The ALS® system is the next evolution in retention holsters and builds upon the successful SELF LOCKING SYSTEM (SLS). With many patents to its credit, the key to this system is an internal locking device that secures the weapon in all directions simply upon re-holstering, providing Level I or III Retention™ which can also be elevated to Level IV Retention™ with the addition of the Sentry. Additionally, holsters with this all-new ergonomic design are completely operable with the thumb making training easy, and the straight up draw makes them very instinctive to use, yet difficult for an assailant’s attempted takeaway. And finally, once the retention devices are released, the weapon can be drawn straight out of the holster with no twisting or other motion required.
Five Features of the ALS®
- The ALS is a unique new design that locks into the ejection port and is operated by the thumb once the SLS is released.
- The SLS rotating hood has been tested and proven for many years on the 6280 and 6004 series of holsters. Simply push down and rotate forward as you obtain your shooting grip. To close, pull back on the hood and the SLS self locks. No snaps or straps to manipulate.
- The Hood Guard helps protect the SLS from impact and premature release especially in an attempted takeaway. Included with all duty and tactical versions.
- Constructed of SAFARILAMINATE™, a thermal molded holster to help protect the handgun and vital components for years of use.
- Injection molded jacket slot UNIVERSAL BELT LOOP (UBL) is very strong and comfortable. Available in standard belt ride and 1.5″ drop version for 2″ or 2.25″ belt slots.
One of the dilemmas for holster placement is ride height. If it is high, it is easier to sit and move in and out of the car. Lower gets it under you armor and allows a better draw. You don’t have to choose anymore. Safariland’s new Vertical Universal Belt Loop (VUBL) has a quick 3-position height adjustment. Compatible with any Safariland 3-hole patterned duty holster, the VUBL allows the user to quickly raise or lower their holster without any tools required. The VUBL passes the Retention™ pull test and locks onto any duty belt with a belt slot design.
