C&H Precision Weapons: A Better Red Dot Mounting Solution for Glock MOS

If you’re stuck with an MOS Glock as your only choice for mounting a reflex/red dot sight you need a C&H Precision Weapons Red Dot Mounting Plate.

Choosing a method of mounting a red dot sight to your Glock pistol can have lots of paths.  The three most common methods are to have an existing pistol milled, purchasing an aftermarket slide like those from Grey Ghost Precision, or purchasing a Glock MOS (Modular Optic System).

My preference is a milled slide (love mine by Brimstone Gunsmithing) or an aftermarket slide like my GGP V4 slide. Sometimes having a pistol milled isn’t an option like some police departments who want to keep the issued firearms in an OEM configuration or you’re just not ready to cut up that beautiful slide.

What’s not to like about the MOS?

It isn’t robust enough for duty use!  Glock is smart for making the MOS but they had to make it compatible for a plethora of different red dot sight systems.  The plate that you install leaves gaps in front of and behind the optic.  This isn’t just unpleasing aesthetically, it’s not even close to being as robust as a press-fit optic on a well-done milled slide.   Two little screws are all that holds your investment onto your pistol with downward pressure.

Well I used thread lock

Good choice but it still isn’t going to stay put if you run your gun hard.  When you install a red dot optic system on your pistol, the optic becomes a lever on the gun.  Racking the slide is now (for must of us) done with the optic and a bladed hand.  One-handed manipulations of the gun now involve racking the slide off the optic against a leg, edge of a belt or holster etc. Again, all those forces are now being applied to two little-bitty screws with some thread lock applied.  Even if you baby the gun but do any significant amount of shooting, the forces applied to a moving slide on a pistol are substantial.  The screws are going to come loose and fail!

I must run an MOS, so what’s the solution?

C&H Products offers the solution to the MOS problem.  The C&H Reflex/Red Dot Mounting Plates are specific to the optic for an MOS pistol.  C&H eliminates the sloppy gap AND increases the amount of thread engagement when you mount the optic.  Throw away the one size fits most mounting plate that was included with your pistol and install the C&H mounting plate for your optic.  Not only does the optic fit perfectly and look nice and neat, it now becomes that robust with a press-fit installation that can endure the rigors of use, abuse, and duty-use. You’ll have two times more thread engagement and more locating pins! If you’re running the Trijicon RMR, you no longer will need the $12.00 sealing plate.

Sights on the MOS plate sit to high for me. I have to change my hand position. Maybe this mount will fix it.
