An 80% Shotgun Receiver? It Exists!

I’m a pretty big fan of 80 lower receivers and I am an even bigger fan of shotguns so however I missed the announcement of an 80% shotgun receiver I’ll never know. A company called Logic Industries is producing an oddball 80% receiver that mixes both Mossberg shotgun components with AR features. The receiver itself is huge, boxy, and square in design. It’s built from the ground up to accept AR 15 components including a buffer tube, trigger, safety, and pistol grip. Other than that it will utilize Mossberg 500 and 590 barrels, magazine tubes, etc.

An 80% Shotgun Is Born

Admittedly shotguns are already pretty cheap guns so there is a lot of money to be made producing a standard Mossberg 80% receiver. Taking the route of adding AR components and doing something unique is a major selling point to this design. If you like the tool work involved in building guns you can produce your very own unique shotgun. The compatibility with AR markets opens up a big market for upgrades and different controls, stocks, pistol grips etc. The use of common Mossberg components means the same.

The CS 80 isn’t available just yet and seems to still be in the Pre Order phase. Pre Order started in July and their website still lists the item as Pre-Order. They appear to have been working on the project for a very long time and in July it came together.

I reached out for a comment on when the pre-order will be finished but have not received a reply. This isn’t their first dive into 80% lowers, they also produced an interesting Tec 9 lower last year, but I don’t see it listed on the current Logic Industries website.

The design of an 80% shotgun receiver is quite interesting and I hope the project moves forward smoothly. However, I think the 450 dollar price tag for the receiver, jig, and some other small parts will keep many away. I hope the project is a success and look forward to seeing the receiver on the market.
